Baccarat is an extremely popular casino card game. The objective of this game is to bet on the winning side. The 3 bets in Baccarat are the Player’s Bet, the Banker’s bet, and the Tie bet.
The game starts with the player laying his bets on the Player’s hand, Banker’s hand, or Tie. The dealer deals 2 hands on the table:
As soon as the dealer lays two cards on each area of the table, it’s time to calculate the points and decide the value of each hand.
Note that the Tens (10 number Cards) and the face cards (A, K, Q, J) are all considered as zero points. The other cards are worth their face value and Ace is counted as one point.
Also, if the value of your hand is a 2 digit number, only the 2nd digit is considered.
For example,
In the above instance, the banker is the winner as 0+7= 7 points, whereas the Player’s hand is having only 2 points (9+3 = 12 points, but because we use only the second-digit, it amounts to just two points).
If in the first 2 cards dealt, the point total is 8 or 9 for either the Banker or the Player, this is known as a natural win and the game is over. Bets that have already been laid are cashed out.
The Player hand is finished first. A total of 8 or 9 for the Player will not get any extra cards. The Player stays on totals of 6 or 7. On any other total, 0-5, the Player draws a 3rd card, unless the banker has 8 or 9, in which case the bank hand wins without any further draw.
In this game, – Sometimes nobody wins.
If the Banker and the Player have the same points, the game will have resulted in a Tie. In this case, the bets to the Player and the bets to the Banker are returned (nobody wins, and nobody loses) and only the bets on the Tie are paid.
In the game of baccarat, any decisions are not made by the dealer or by the player for how cards are played. If a winning hand is not reached in the initial draw, the dealer has to draw a third card for both hands on the basis of the rules. The player hand is always dealt first.
Player’s Hand | Third Card Draw Rules |
---|---|
0-5 | Must Draw |
6 or 7 | Must Stand |
8 or 9 | “Natural” (both hands stand) |
Banker’s Hand | Third Card Draw Rules |
---|---|
0-2 | Must Draw |
3-6 | Depends on the Player’s Third Card |
7 | Must Stand |
8 or 9 | “Natural” (both hands stand) |
In the above table, it depicts that if the banker’s first 2 cards total 0, 1, or 2 a third card is drawn. If its 2 cards total seven it must stand. The only other likely totals are 3, 4, 5, or 6 and the decision to whether or not a 3rd card is drawn is decided by the player’s 3rd card.
The following table represents the rules for when the banker must draw on the basis of the player’s third card:
When Banker’s First Two Cards Total: | Banker Draws When Player’s Third Card Is: | Banker Stands When Player’s Third Card Is: |
---|---|---|
3 | 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-9-10 | 8 |
4 | 2-3-4-5-6-7 | 1-8-9-10 |
5 | 4-5-6-7 | 1-2-3-8-9-10 |
6 | 6-7 | 1-2-3-4-5-8-9-10 |
7 | Stands | Stands |
